A soft padding of footsteps was the only sound that filled the otherwise empty hallway, as a young boy, clad in a private elementary school uniform walked in silence. Sohma Yuki shuffled quietly, silver bangs curtaining his face as the nezumi hung his head. After dropping him off at the Main House, his mother had told him to go directly to Akito, no ifs’ or buts’. Yuki sighed quietly, a soft, barely audible sound.
It was the same everyday, and he hated it. Sitting with the family head was like living next to a volcano that could explode any second. He had little of no contact with other children, excusing Haru, who had visited him once. The boy paused for a moment, sitting on a chair that was pushed against the wall. He wouldn’t be missed for five minutes, would he? Besides, it would be nice to try and do his homework without Akito hovering over his shoulder…
Pulling a pencil from his school satchel, the young boy set to work on the simple division sums.
((So bad! >.<))

((Sorry it took so long. But I had to look up every 2nd word in the dictionary... and my text is still bad... ...if anyone finds a grammar mistake, please correct me ^^; )) Hatsuharu entered the ostentatious Sohma Estate. No one was outside, the only noise he could hear was the echo of his steps. The white-haired boy walked along a narrow path, accompanied by a little bird. He knelt down and smiled. Warily, he put forth one finger and waited for the little bird jump on it. But no such thing happened. The little bird chirped, spread it's tiny wings and flew away, leaving behind a perplexed Haru. "Looks like birds just don't like cows..." He straightened up and caught a glimpse of a familiar figure inside the house. His bright, gray eyes widened when he realized that it was the back of a lonely boy with shining silver hair - Yuki. This was already the second time Haru met the mysterious boy after their encounter the week before. The feelings of guilt still hadn't left the little boy, after all he had said some really terrible words to the innocent Yuki. The ushi took a step towards the window and gazed at Yuki, who was absorbed in his homework - was it maths? There were numbers and some weird signs... Haru hesitated at first, but finally worked up the courage to raise his fist and knock at the window.

Yuki blinked at the sound of knocking, and looked up and down the hallway for a moment before his silver gaze settled on the window. Seeing Haru looking back at him, the nezumi abandoned his homework and hurried over to the window. Even with the day being warm, the windows were still shut, for reasons that he didn't understand. After much fumbling with the lock, he finally managed to swing it open.
He stood there awkwardly for a few minutes, unsure of what to say. It wasn't normal for the nezumi to initiate a conversation. "Anou... Konnichiwa..." Yuki said uncertainly, hands resting on the window ledge. It was the second time in a few weeks that Yuki had met the ushi, and he was actually the only boy near enough to his own age he had talked to... well... not since his friends...

"Anou... Konnichiwa..."
Haru just gave Yuki a blank look. Would Yuki want play with him? Or...what would Yuki like to play? Will they get on with each other very well? Hundreds of different thoughts crossed Hatsuharu's mind and made him unable to speak. Neither of them spoke; there was a dead silence. Apparently, Yuki seemed nervous, too, which comforted Haru a bit and somehow amused him.
Eventually, the boy who was cursed by the cow, broke his silence and replied with his gentle, still a bit unassertive voice. "H-Hello..." He mumbled, not leaving his eyes off Yuki. "What-what are you...doing r-right now?" He asked shyly and pointed with his fingers at the paper pile on Yuki's table.
