Hiro Sohma Application
Username: Hara
Age: 14
Character you are applying for: Hiro Sohma
How far are you in the manga and anime?:
Anime: I own the box set and have watched it so many times my mom hates it.
Manga: I own volumes 1-13 and have read scanlations up to volume 19. I have also read chapter summaries up to chapter 128.
How often will you be available to Role-play?: School just got out, so I should be able to be one at least 4 days a week.
How should this character be portrayed? What is he/she like?: I believe that when Hiro was younger, he was a bit more childish and bold. He probably had that innocence that most children have. While Hiro is more withdrawn when he is older, I’m hoping that he’s was not like that when he was younger. While not much is seen of Hiro before Tohru, I’m hoping that he was different but still the same. But because of the lack of complete knowledge in Hiro’s past, there’s up a point where you have guess and hope you’re right. I certainly hope I am.
One thing you like about this character: I admire Hiro’s loyalty and dedication to Kisa. No matter what happens, Hiro remains loyal to her. After Akito beats Kisa, Hiro seemed to disappear, but I like to believe that Hiro was watching her from afar. If he wasn’t, how did he know that it was Tohru that helped her? Hiro always seems to be with Kisa after that. While some people may disagree, I believe that Hiro is extremely dedicated to Kisa. I’m hoping he had a similar trait of dedication when he was younger. Maybe not as dedicated to Kisa yet, because Hiro is still very young, but in other aspects of his life.
At least ten lines of sample RP:
I don’t want to go! I want to go home to mother and watch the sunrise… A four-year-old Hiro Sohma stomped along the path to the banquet hall. His dark tan hair was in disarray as his white-collar shirt clung to his small neck. Brown eyes were lined with tears as Hiro’s bottom lip jutted out in a childish pout.
Hiro glanced around. Happy Sohma family members, singing and smiling on the cold New Year’s Eve night, surrounded him. Fast approaching was the Grand Banquet Hall, or as Hiro now called it, “the torture room”. He shuddered at the thought of sitting in the huge room for hours, while everyone made fun of him for being a kid. And all of the strangers and their piercing glares…
“I want mommy…” Hiro whispered quietly, ashamed at his weakness. He felt strangely alone even though he was walking through a large crowd of people. None of them stop him or asked him why he was alone because… because he was one of them. No one else ever talked to him.
Hiro shook in fright as he reached the large entry doors to the Grand Banquet Hall. He bit his bottom lip as he struggled to open the large door. Frantically, his eyes flashed around in hopes of assistance. No one was paying him any attention. He sighed and began to tiptoe quietly to the side of the building. If he was late, his mother warned him earlier, Akito-dono would be angry.
Hiro rushed along through the cold air, desperately searching for another entrance. He rubbed his frozen hands together as his cheeks stung with the frigid air. Dodging the slow moving crowd, he let out a small cry as he tripped and fell to the ground.
The crowd continued on, ignoring Hiro, as he lay sprawled out on the hard ground, whimpering. He sat up slowly and stared at the ground. The threatening tears spilled as he sobbed. Nothing was going right. He couldn’t open the door and then he couldn’t find another entrance. Now he had a skinned knee and a grass stain on his brand new shirt.
Through a window, Hiro could see right into the banquet hall. A group of around ten people mingled in the large room. At the center was a table loaded with food. His stomach growled, he hadn’t eaten since breakfast. His dark eyes stared into the hall until he gasped in wonder as a light orange head past the window. Kisa! He wanted to run and yell, to ask the only familiar face there to let him in. It was no use though; she was long gone from the window’s view.
His teeth chattered as he sat curled up in the corner of the garden. Hiro wiped his face clean of tears with one hand, ashamed to be found crying like an infant. He rubbed his eyes as he carefully glanced up and down the side of the large building. There is no hope…
Wait…There! Hiro leaped to his feet as warmth spread through his heart. There in the corner was a small door usually meant as an entrance for servants. Forgetting his stained shirt and skinned knee, he shouted in joy and rushed to the small door. Yanking it open quietly, Hiro crawled quietly in to the Zodiac banquet. I hope I’m not late…
(** This sample is based off when Hiro is four and attending his first zodiac banquet. He isn’t really close to Kisa yet. If Hiro is too old here, just tell me and I’ll write a new sample.**)
